YMN @ BUS2BUS

From First Steps to Full Programme: YMN at BUS2BUS 2026

Two years ago, BUS2BUS 2024 marked a milestone for the Young Mobility Network (YMN). It was our very first trade show presence - an experiment, a starting point, and above all, a learning experience.

Fast forward to 2026, and we returned to Berlin with something very different: a fully developed programme designed specifically for young professionals in the mobility sector.

What started as an idea has grown into a structured, impactful offering - bringing the next generation right into the heart of the industry.

Building on 2024: From Presence to Impact

At BUS2BUS 2024, our focus was simple: show up, connect, and understand how young professionals engage at industry events.

In 2026, we came back with intention.

This year, YMN delivered a multi-layered programme, including:

  • Digital Networking Coaching as warm-up a week in advance

  • 2 guided tours across the exhibition

  • 2 panel discussions on key industry topics

  • A pre-event to kick things off

  • A post-event casual meetup to deepen connections

The goal was clear: create structured, meaningful touchpoints for exchange - before, during, and after the event.

Setting the Stage: Digital Networking Coaching

Ahead of BUS2BUS, we hosted a Digital Networking Coaching session as a warm-up - designed to help participants make the most of their time on site.

The key insights were simple, yet powerful:

  • Preparation is key to success – knowing who you want to meet and why makes all the difference

  • Be present at the event – meaningful connections happen when you engage with intention

  • Follow up – networking doesn’t end at the venue; it’s what you do afterwards that creates real impact

By equipping participants with these tools in advance, we ensured they didn’t just attend BUS2BUS - but actively made the most of it.

Curated Networking That Works

One of the strongest signals of success came from our guided tours.

We hosted two tours designed to help young professionals navigate the exhibition, connect with companies, and better understand the innovations shaping the sector. Demand was so high that we expanded one tour to include additional companies.

This reinforced something we’ve long believed:

People don’t just want access - they want guidance, context, and meaningful interaction.

Creating Space for Real Conversations

Our panels focused on two critical themes:

  • Transformation in the bus sector

  • Succession and the next generation of leadership

These weren’t just theoretical discussions. They brought together perspectives from across the ecosystem - policy, operations, and innovation - to explore not only what is changing, but how we manage that change.

A key takeaway:
Programmes like YMN Mentoring play a crucial role in preparing young professionals to step into leadership roles in a transforming industry.

Shaping the Industry from Within

YMN’s presence at BUS2BUS was also reflected at a strategic level. Anna Filby was part of the BUS2BUS Advisory Board, contributing her perspective on how to better integrate and support young professionals within the industry.

I am part of the BUS2BUS Advisory Board because I want to actively shape the future of mobility and give young professionals a strong voice. I bring expertise in new mobility solutions, networking, and the empowerment of young talent, as well as a strong network of engaged young professionals. Only through the right formats, targeted support for networking, and tailored offers for the right audience can we create a truly welcoming industry.”

Anna Filby - CEO & Founder Young Mobility Network UG

This perspective was reflected throughout the programme - placing young professionals not at the sidelines, but at the center of the conversation.

Beyond the Stage: The Power of Community

Equally important were the moments outside the formal programme.

We started the week with a pre-event hosted at Optibus, organised by our Berlin hub—setting the tone for the days ahead.

And we closed with a community meetup at L’Osteria, where conversations continued in a more informal setting.

Because in the end, this is what YMN is about:

  • New connections

  • Familiar faces

  • Spontaneous, honest conversations

What We Learned

Bringing young professionals into an industry event is not just about access—it’s about experience design.

At BUS2BUS 2026, we saw that impact comes from:

  • Structure (guided formats instead of passive attendance)

  • Preparation (helping participants know what to expect and how to engage)

  • Community (creating a sense of belonging throughout the event)

And perhaps most importantly:
Bridging the gap between generations is not automatic - it needs to be actively facilitated.

From our first steps in 2024 to a full programme in 2026, YMN has grown—but more importantly, the demand and relevance have grown with it.

We’re just getting started.

YMN Team
