Privacy Notice & Consent: AI-supported mentoring matching
As part of our YMN mentoring programme (2026/2027), we are trialling a software- and AI-supported process to identify the best possible matching suggestions between mentees and mentors. The protection of your personal data is our top priority.
1. Purpose of processing
The data you provide in the profile form (e.g. areas of expertise, development goals, level of experience, interests) will be processed to calculate thematic and methodological compatibility between mentees and mentors and to generate matching suggestions.
2. Anonymisation prior to AI use
No identifiable data in the algorithm: Before processing by the AI model, direct identifiers (such as first name and surname, private contact details, specific team or location names) are completely removed or pseudonymised.
Attribute profiles: The AI system processes only aggregated, anonymised attribute and requirement profiles (e.g. ‘interests’, ‘experience in the field’).
3. No automated decisions
No fully automated decision-making within the meaning of Article 22 of the GDPR takes place.
The team will make the decision on the matches personally. The AI system acts purely as an assistance system and merely suggests scores or pairings. The final selection and approval are always carried out by the programme organisation team following manual review (‘human-in-the-loop’).
4. Use of models and retention period
Your data will not be used for the public training of external AI models.
Once the matching phase is complete or you withdraw from the programme, the matching profiles will be deleted in accordance with the programme’s standard retention periods.
5. Legal basis and withdrawal of consent
Participation in the matching process is based on your voluntary consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR). You may withdraw this consent at any time with future effect by sending an informal email to the organising team, without this resulting in any disadvantage to you. In this case, matching will be carried out manually.
